Effects Of Acne, The Emotional and Physical
Unfortunately some people tend to have a more severe case of acne than what others do. There are times when individuals will tend to squeeze the pimple or pick at it with something sharp. Doing this can cause acne scars, and it can lead to infection as well. There are some who do not even have to pick at their acne for it to cause scarring on their face and neck, and other areas of their body.
On the physical side of having acne, this skin disorder can be extremely painful to endure. Acne is also responsible for causing several emotional problems. If an individual suffers from severe acne, it can cause self-esteem issues and a low image of oneself. For teens with acne, this could end up to be a very severe problem. Often times the teen will eventually avoid eye contact of others because they are embarrassed of their appearance and how they look to others. Peer pressure can be an extremely emotional problem, causing severe depression and social phobias. If depression and other social problems occur due to acne, it is best to seek the advice of your physician.
Acne not only causes depression in teens, but it can cause depression in adults too. Some of the symptoms to look for are poor behavioral patterns, lack of appetite, sleeping more or sleeping less, and feelings of themselves being unworthy.
Anyone who is suffering with acne knows this is not an easy skin disorder to deal with, either physically or emotionally. |
